The Truth About Behaviour, Emotions and Emotional Intelligence

10:14 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

After over 10 years in studying human behaviour from the psychological and the sociological perspectives in detail I am left with only one conclusion and that is that human behaviour is not governed by the cognitive functioning domain, but human behavior is governed by the inner soul of man, which technically speaking means the Inner Interactive System of man. The main reason that we are not governed by our thinking is because each of us have the ability to choose, whatever we want unless we take away the ability to rationalize through different chemicals or drugs.

Proof of this lies in the scientific facts that we all have unique finger prints, DNA, looks, hair, voices and so many other unique features that makes evolution of a unique person impossible, especially due to the number of different molecules and atoms that have to come together; all at the same time in order to become functional. We cannot have man evolving piece by piece over millions of years. Man cannot live for more than 50 days without food and less than 6 days without water. So the whole inner system of man to come together and function holistically with some big bang theory and evolving over millions of years is totally impossible.

Lets now get back to emotions and emotional functioning. The fact that man is uniquely different makes him a very illusive creature to pin down and understand his behavior. It is fairly simple to understand the holistic make up of man scientifically and the medical sciences have proved to be fairly proficient in these areas. The illusive part of man is the way he thinks and behaves; this is most challenging to the sciences and thereby makes it totally impossible to create a social norm or a normal individual.

Behavior and the expression thereof is totally different in every single individual. To be able to rationalize human behavior, we need to look at the holistic person; as every individuals finger print, DNA, looks etc are all different in every scenario. Behavior is therefore the illusive part of the psychological discipline as it is the psychologist who claim to be the experts in this field.

I have found that many of them become both insulting and aggressive; when I pointed out the fact and proved to them that they are lacking the understanding of the word unique. If something is unique it is impossible to ever be normal. The whole psychological discipline is based on Social norms. Behavior can never be diagnosed as normal, however people could have numerous similarities and I think the impossibility of being normal is an embarrassment to the psychological fraternities doctrine, as science has proven the exact opposite.

Although Psychology has marketed themselves under the medical sciences, their degree is not a science degree it is an arts degree. Behavior can never be a science as there are no starting points or ending point for it to be classified as a science; as everyone’s behavior in the same environment or different environments are completely different to each other.

How a person behaves is not necessarily what he feels and what he feels can only be expressed through an emotion or emotional functioning if you please. So emotions are secondary to the cause of the emotion. So how does one come to a rational discipline called Emotional Intelligence? The only rationality that would make any sense, is if one uses a social norm as a standard from which the emotional intelligence can be established from?

However, what you feel is often not necessarily expressed at all, but only expressed to the extent that a person wants to portray themselves through an emotional expression or reaction, meaning that the expression of the inner feeling through emotions cannot be relied upon when trying to understand peoples behavior. This is why we have introverts and extroverts. These people are labeled due to their intensity of expression, and not on their true inner picture or feelings. This creates false perceptions.

The big question then would be: Do we understand what we mean when we talk about “The Mind”; which in reality is made up of the Cognitive, Physical, Emotional and the Conative (Will Power) functioning holistically all in harmony with each other, but with different functioning purposes all under the control of self, mostly expressed as “me” or “I”? The truth is we have so many different theories about human functioning; that the most predominant whom marketed their theories very effectively was Psychiatry and Psychology. The point is that these are Psychological theories and not a science and can never be a science although marketed under the pretence that it is a science.

The original intentions of psychologist was to study mans holistic behaviour, but sadly the industry has lost the initial understanding and have focussed more on the cognitive functioning of man. Now although psychiatry has been the best at marketing the theory, they definitely have lost the plot by focusing on the thinking (cognitive functioning) of man. You will hear that they claim that the mental aspect of man (Cognitive) is predominant and whereby they have reversed the process intentionally. I know there is a hidden agenda behind their theory.

Their discipline was changed in 1961 and thereafter they concentrate on the mental aspect and the name mental was adopted and marketed to mean that the cognitive functioning was the controlling factor in human behavior. Well it is very easy to prove that is a myth and totally untrue. It does not matter what I am thinking I still have a power called Free Choice which is based on what my belief system are and those beliefs, likes and dislikes are called personal standards. So if I believe that I should have integrity and honesty I would choose to do be honest by behaving and doing the right thing.

Depending on the intensity of importance of a belief or construct, this would determine what we would choose to do, as there are millions of different thought processes that go on in our Brain or Cognitive function every day, but ultimately the choice rests on our personal values and not the cognitive functioning. Some of these “experts” have focussed their attention on emotions and called their discipline “Emotional Intelligence” meaning that they perceive that emotions can be used to quantify or understand behavior.

Mind-Blowing Guidelines When Consuming High Roughage for Effective Weight Loss

10:13 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

Quote: “People say that losing weight is no walk in the park. When I hear that I think, yeah, That’s the problem.” ~Chris Adams

Today may be your lucky day! Why you ask? It’s simply because you are reading this wonderful article. Plus, may I just begin this report with these simple questions? Are you one of those people looking for a way of living that will allow you to sensibly lose weight?

Keep the weight off permanently? And accomplish this while experience all the joy of eating? If you answer to those questions is ‘YES’ then you can start to celebrate now! Because this is the article that will enable you to do just that. You can bet your eye balls on this.

The first and foremost guideline begins now! Please read carefully even if you have to read it word for word. Right?

Mind-Blowing Guideline No. 1: Reduce “hot” spices and relishes to the minimum.

Here’s it is. Something else which is also very important. There are two reasons for this. First “hot” spices tend ‘to increase consumption of cereal grain products from brown rice to hamburger rolls. Second, most relishes such as catsup, steak sauces, pickle relish, etc., are high in refined sugar All flour products should be made from one of the following types of flour exclusively: whole-grain rye flour Whole-wheat flour soy flour whole ground cornmeal buckwheat flour (whole grain) carob four. Get my drift?

Mind-Blowing Guideline No. 2: Bread should contain only these flours without added refined sugar and a minimum of shortening.

So what I am saying that other flour products should be made in a similar way. Many of these items can be purchased ready-made in health-food stores but read the labels carefully to be sure that they contain only these flours and no added refined sugar. Trust me, one of the ironies of “modem” merchandising is that we can purchase our daily diet in two kinds of stores: health-food stores and by implication unhealthy” food stores.

Without wasting any more ink, let’s move over to the next mind blowing guidelines three! Are you ready? Then just scroll down and move along with me!

Mind-Blowing Guideline No. 3. Avoid all “synthetic” products.

Correct me if I am wrong. I am still of the opinion that such products are invariably low roughage and will interfere with your diet success. That includes items like non-dairy creamer, synthetic whipped topping, artificial sour cream, and imitation anything of the similar nature. Don’t let your eyes blind your reasoning power. Looks can lay tricks on our eyes and indeed very deceiving. You can trust me on that!

Next! What you are about to read it’s no rocket science but easy to understand as ABC. Just don’t believe me blindly. Read them carefully and prove to me that you are right! OK?

Mind-Blowing Guideline No.4. Do not eat any of the high-sugar, high-starch items that clutter menus everywhere.

To be brutally honest! And right to the point. I must admit that such food include all “commercial” baked goods, ice cream, ice’ milk, imitation ice cream, imitation ice milk, sherbet, “commercial” candy, sugar-containing soft drinks, presweetened cereals, and–all other products containing ultra-processed flour, and/or refined sugar. This list can go longer. But suffice to say that we sometimes need to do our own private R & D to safeguard our healthy eating habits.

Let pause here for a moment before we march forward to the next guideline! Let me state truthfully here and now. Ok, I know you’re probably shaking your head after reading up to the fourth guideline. But trust me, continue reading the final guideline. Believe me, you will be amply rewarded. Agreed?

Mind-Blowing Guideline No. 5. Avoid alcoholic beverage.
I won’t lie to you, it’s not easy to get to the point where I am, but it’s not complicated too! Hence, unfortunately, there is no place for alcoholic beverages on this diet. Or on any other medically sound diet, for that matter. Ethyl alcohol, the kind that is in all “alcoholic” beverages, is swiftly converted to sugar in the body. It is a low-roughage (an understatement) food and will undermine the entire diet plan.

There is, however, one consultation. Many of those who have followed the high roughage diet plan find that within a week to a month their desire for alcohol has almost totally disappeared. In any event, there is no way around it high roughage is “The Thinking Man’s Diet,” not “The Drinking Man’s Diet.”

In summary these are only some of the more important guidelines to consuming high roughage for the purpose of hastening your weight loss. Firstly, reduce your intake of “hot” spices and relishes to the minimum. Secondly, eat only bread that should contain only these flours without added refined sugar and a minimum of shortening. Thirdly, avoid consuming all “synthetic” products. Fourthly, do not eat any of the high-sugar, high-starch items that clutter menus everywhere. And finally, shun away from drinking any alcoholic beverage. Easy to follow? I think ‘yes’.

My only conclusion is this! Imagine if you combine the guidelines with a daily exercise, you will be doing virtually everything possible to overcome your weight problem. Optimize your current health and prevent disease down the line. This would also give you the best odd for preventing ruinous health care cost and living a long, vital life. And all this require is a choice on your part

We have given you these mind blowing guidelines. We have given you the justification and the facts. Plus the best advice we can give, the rest is up to you. Health is really is wealth in more than just financial, and whatever choices you make, we wish you riches in all endeavors. Good luck and hope to see in person now or at a later time. Thank you! Good-bye!

Courses in Psychology Open Doors of Understanding in Many Fields

10:13 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

A large part of any college degree is the interdisciplinary aspect of academic studies. That means students are exposed to a wide variety of material in many different subject areas. Students are required to take a certain number of core classes that make up the foundation of their education, and these include courses in English, the sciences, mathematics, humanities, and the arts. Being exposed to many different areas may better help a student decide what area of study they find the most invigorating or interesting.

The beauty of interdisciplinary studies is that it helps create well-rounded students. That’s why many colleges now require their students to take an introduction to psychology, which is a humanities course. Many colleges believe an important part of their job is to educate their students in the human experience. The world is an extremely wide place, and it is helpful to know that even though we may be separated by culture, language, and religious belief, we are all bound together by our common humanity.

Understanding human psychology can be an important part of understanding the many things that happen in the world. Although we may be spread far and wide, there are basic commonalities to human psychology in every culture and nationality. An introduction to psychology course can help students understand at a basic level the workings of the human mind, and the thoughts, emotions, and processes that generally lie behind human behavior, both good and bad.

Since the field of psychology is very broad, an introductory course is by nature much narrower in scope. Practicing psychologists actually work in many different fields that might include biology, computers, sociology, or in a corporate environment, just to name a few. An introduction to psychology course may touch very briefly on a number of fields and how psychological knowledge may be applied to that particular field.

Intro to psychology will study various aspects of the human brain, from its physiology and evolution to disease and malfunctions. The coursework will generally also include an overview of important people who have shaped the field since its inception, including philosophical discussions regarding the brain and body. It is also very likely that human sexuality, gender differences, communication and consciousness will be briefly discussed.

In a psychology intro, various aspects of human behavior may be discussed in relation to the mental activity that underlies the behavior. How environmental surroundings affect human behavior and mental activity is also likely to be discussed, along with many other topics of interest regarding human behavior within and outside of accepted societal norms. An intro to psychology course will not prepare a student to diagnose any form of mental illness; it will merely give a broad overview to types of mental illness that may affect a person or group of people.

What many students may find interesting is that in psychology, animal behavior plays a large part in understanding human behavior. That is because often researchers begin studying animal behavior as a precursor to studying human behavior. Researchers who study animal behavior have made many important discoveries that have affected the field of psychology; the study of primates and their ability to pass down learned behavior is one such important discovery.

Interior Design and Human Behavior

10:13 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

A science or an art

Do you think of interior design as a science or an art? Well, it might be a quiet difficult question; but in fact a combination of both. Interior design can be defined as an applied art where creativity skills and technical knowledge provide solutions. These solutions are applied to achieve a more convenient habitat.

Interior design provides answers that are both functional and attractive and enhance the quality of life. Interior design reflects and interacts with the cultural background and traditional heritage of the occupants.

The design process itself runs through a systematic and interactive methodology to create an innovative and functional design solution whereby the needs and resources of the occupants are satisfied.

To achieve a well designed environment many elements contribute together thus innovating the overall theme e.g. color, light, texture…etc. interior design provides solutions for residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, office and hospitality projects consequently affecting our daily way of living or in other words; our behavior.

However interior design leans on our cultural heritage, yet it still can directly or indirectly shape our behavior and definitely it influences our reactions. For instance a room painted in red feels warm than another painted in blue! However it’s the same environment but the color which is an important design element has altered our behavior and way of thinking. The same color itself can trigger different emotions depending on its reference to either symbolic or psychological functions considering the linkages that vary with time, place and cultural background. While white color is worn at weddings and may represent purity, sterility, virginity and peace for some nations, it was the color worn at funerals for others during certain periods in history.

Another noteworthy proof of how interior design can affect our behavior is light! It has to be customized according to the function performed by the occupants. That major element can ensure and highlight a certain frame of mind! For example in a work environment an inadequate light amount would cause annoyance and discomfort. On the contrary you would enjoy a nice dinner or a romantic movie on a dimmed light.

I do believe that the relation between mass and space creates the greatest impact on human behavior. Minimalism where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features and the subject is reduced to its necessary elements was an approach for better living environments. A cluttered habitat is definitely irritating while fine organized minimal but yet function environments promote serenity and comfort. A good design coordinating mass and space can elevate the sense of creativity and innovation.

Again cultural variations transform occupant’s vision to surrounding space. For instance a minimal designed interior seems less and for some nations less reflects poverty.

The influence of interior design on human behavior is apparent while working for instance on educational projects like nurseries where children experience a phase of mind shaping. Color, light and texture integrate together to encourage creativity. Safety is another dimension that could be enhanced.

The Human Behavior in Organizations

10:12 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

The worker’s activities are activities of humans and are therefore an essential part of humanity.

These activities have at least five dimensions, on the main aspects that must be considered in the analysis of work, and all the employee needs to be entrepreneur and feel accomplished for production:

a) Technical aspects – involves issues relating to place of work and adjustment physiological and sociological.

b) Physiological aspects – is the degree of adaptation man – place of work – Physical environment and the problem of fatigue – the human being is not a machine and does not work like a machine.

c) Moral aspect – considers the skills, the motivation, the degree of awareness, satisfaction and the intimate relationship between work activity and personality – the work is an extension of personality, is how a person measures his worth and his humanity.

d) Social aspect – considers the specific issues in the working environment and external factors such as family, social class, etc..

e) Economic aspect – as the production of wealth – the work is a way of life.

Businesses is evaluated by the following requirements:

1) Environment of the business – credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie;

2) Profile of the company – benefits, compensation, ethics and citizenship, professional development and balancing work and personal life

“There is ways that discover and adopts measures of how to maximize the work efficiency.

- Every person is influenced exclusively by rewards wage, economic and material, not considering the needs of staff achievement and promotion.

The humanism considers the improvement of development, welfare and dignity as the ultimate objective of all human thought and action – above ideals and values of religious, ideological or national.

The commitment to humanism defends the adoption of the following three fundamental principles:

a) Philosophical, consisting in the design of humans – men and women – as be autonomous and rational and respect fundamental to all human beings while endowed with free will, rationality, moral awareness, capacity imaginative and creative.

b) Social policy, which consists of a universal ethic of equality, reciprocity and human solidarity and a policy of pluralistic democracy, fair and human.

c) Educational, consisting of the commitment to help all individuals in implementation and improvement of its potential.

So, with the humanistic approach, “the concern with the machine, the working method, with the formal organization and the principles of administration applicable to organizational aspects give priorities to the concern with man and his social group: the technical aspects for the formal psychological and sociological aspects.

The school of human relations was born from the need of reducing the dehumanization of work and at the same time, increasing the efficiency in business.

The informal groups can communicate with ease, and find supportive environment for the majority of their problems. The formal organization is the organizational structure – organs, functions, hierarchical levels and functional relationships – and informal organization is the set of interactions and relationships that are established between the workers – uses and customs, traditions and social norms.

The informal organization is reflected by attitudes and provisions based on the opinion and sentiment. The expression of the need to ‘join up’ and do not change quickly or make the logic: relate to the sense of values, the lifestyles and the acquisition of social life that a person strives to preserve and defend of which is willing to fight and resist.

The social man, which is based on the following aspects:

a) Employees are complex social creatures, with their feelings, desires and fears. The behavior at work – as the behavior in any place – is a consequence of many motivational factors.

b) People are motivated by human needs and achieve their satisfaction through social groups with whom they interact. Difficult to participate and connect with the group cause elevation of turnover of people, lowering of moral, psychological fatigue, reduced levels of performance,

c) The behavior of social groups can be manipulated by an appropriate style of supervision and leadership (human abilities).

d) The social norms of the group act as regulatory mechanisms of the behavior of members. The levels of production are controlled by the rules of the informal group. This social control takes both positive sanctions (stimulation, social acceptance, etc..) And negative (mockery, isolation from the group, etc.).. The employee is seen as a being creative and thinking, and issues such as integration, social behavior and participation in decisions.

The theory of bureaucracy was born from the work of Max Weber, in the 1940s, he studied the organization as part of a social context, influenced by changing social, economic and religious.

The bureaucratic model is proposed as an efficient administrative structure for complex organizations, governed by the rules and inflexible hierarchy. Bureaucracy is a form of human organization that is based on rationality.

The characteristics of bureaucracy are:

a) Legal nature of the rules and regulations: it is an organization bound by rules and regulations established in writing in advance.

b) Formal communications: they are recorded in writing by forms, so that the bureaucracy is a formally organized to a social structure.

c) Rational: division of labor, where the tasks are set for each participant.

d) Impersonal: relationship in terms of positions, not people.

e) Hierarchy: each post below is under the supervision of the superior officer.

f) Routine: the employee must do what is the boss bureaucracy, he is not independent.

g) Meritocracy: the choice of people is based on merit and technique competence.

h) Administration of expertise: separation between ownership and management.

i) Professional.

j) Predictability: assumes that the behavior of all members is perfectly predictable.

As the concept of informal organization is not rational, it is not accepted by the bureaucracy, so the worker is seen only as occupier of a position that needs to respond by the set of tasks that are under its responsibility.
To stimulate the work discipline, the bureaucrat’s official life is planned for him in terms of career, promotions, pensions and wages, and in exchange, it is expected that he adapts his thoughts, feelings and actions to the needs of the organization.

However, these factors increase the conformism and lead to exaggeration in the strict observation of rules, which results in conservatism and technicality. In the bureaucracy are considered the goals of the organization and not the people.

This means that the more bureaucratic an organization is, more people are parts of the bureaucratic machinery, settled for their purposes, without creativity, initiative, and resistant to changes in their routines.

To be successful in all organizations, the organizational man must have the following characteristics of personality:

a) Flexibility, given the constant changes that occur in modern life, and the diversity of roles in various organizations, which can get a reversal, the sudden shutdown of organizations and new relationships.

b) Tolerance to frustration, to avoid the emotional distress arising from the conflict between organizational needs and individual needs, the mediation is done by rational rules, written and comprehensive, seeking involve the entire organization.

c) Ability to rewards and compensate the routine work on the organization, accordingly personal preferences and vocations, and other types of work.

d) Standing desire to achieve, to ensure compliance and cooperation with the rules that control and provide access to the career positions within the organization, providing social rewards and sanctions and materials.

What Determines Our Behaviour – Genes Or Environment?

10:12 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will. – Jawaharlal Nehru, former Prime Minister of India.

Much has been written and debated about what determines the behaviour of a person, genes or environment? Are our genes responsible for what we do in our day to day life? Or does environment play a dominant role in shaping our behaviour? This “nature – nurture” theory is a perennial topic of discussion.

The basic unit of heredity in an organism is its gene. Genes are responsible for passing genetic traits to the next generation. The coding sequence of genes decides what the gene does for construction and maintenance of an organism’s cells while the non- coding sequence decides when the gene is active.

The Nature Theory

Scientists of Nature Theory think that people behave as they do because of their genetic predisposition. Physical qualities like eye, hair, or skin color, body structure, diseases and characteristics like interest, personality, temperament and sexual habits are also encoded in the genes. Human behavior is less controlled by the environment of free will but more by the genes they carry. Whatever incidents occur and traits that are practiced generation after generation get imprinted on the genes and are passed on to some extent to the next generation.

The Nurture Theory

Some scientists conclude that genetic tendencies do exist, but they ultimately don’t matter because the environmental factors and their upbringing that determine people’s behaviour. A gene may increase the inclination towards a particular behaviour but it does not make people do things unless a favourable environment is provided. If an environment resisting of their genetic tendencies is provided to people, they are most likely to behave according to their upbringing.

Nature or Nurture?

Issues like criminal behavior, infidelity, sexual preferences have been ascribed by Nature theorists to genes.

“We are survival machines,” Richard Dawkins writes in The Selfish Gene, “robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve the selfish molecules known as genes.” And “… genes propagate themselves in the gene pool by leaping from body to body via sperms or eggs..”

If we believe this, and people are no longer held accountable for their actions, how will society be possible? On the other hand can we justify criminal behavior by simply saying that increasing summer heat or solar flare leads to increasing levels of assaults and rapes, as some psychologists claim?

It is believed that as we go higher orders in species like mammals that there is a smaller role of instincts and better environmental and behavioural adaptability in the constant process of survival. Human beings have the least instincts. We have instead a great influence of our surroundings and environment substantially determines our behavior.

A study at the University of Minnesota of behaviours of identical twins reared in different homes claims that approximately seventy percent of the variation in IQ is due to genes. Others believe that isolation of twins could never be complete as they would have some social or cultural commonality and communication in their environment in this world fast becoming socially and culturally uniform.

There is increasing evidence of the interactions between nature and nurture. Genes by themselves do not ensure that a particular trait will prevail. Genes are said to be switched on or off by environmental interaction with our brain which is why yoga and meditation are said to be able to control diseases and even control or reverse some physical processes in the body.

We cannot, with the present evidence before us, conclude one way or the other on the nature vs. nurture debate. We have to try to understand the interactions between the two. There are complex relationships among genes, proteins, hormones, food, and our experiences and only further research in future will reveal the truth.

In the context of the human search for development and success, we cannot rest our future on the thesis that genes have a major role to play and our efforts will contribute little. Life coaches and business coaches who are more in favor of the nurture theory believe that the events that the individual passes through in his life time shape his perceptions, lifestyle, personality and habits. Their stand is that if freewill and strong determination is exercised, people are sure to control their genes and nurture their personality to happiness, self confidence and success.

Human Behavior – Learn Why Konrad Lorenz Was a Genius

10:11 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

I will be forever grateful to the extraordinary Austrian behaviorist and biologist Konrad Lorenz. After Carl Jung, who taught me the meaning of dreams and saved me from neurosis and a prominent schizophrenia, Konrad Lorenz is my second savior and big hero.

His detailed research, his conclusions and discoveries, and the valuable knowledge he provided to the world, saved me from the dangerous darkness of ignorance. Only because I studied his books with the same attention I studied Carl Jung’s books, could I trust the unconscious mind as much as I did.

Lorenz received a Nobel Prize in 1974. However, until today the world didn’t recognize the importance of his discoveries. This is why until today many people believe that Charles Darwin’s conclusions about the evolution of the species was correct. Konrad Lorenz and his group of biologists have scientifically proven to the world that Darwin was wrong for believing that the evolutionary process of the animal species depended on their environment.

All animals are previously prepared in order to be able to survive in a dangerous environment before living. They find on Earth many enemies, and many difficult situations for their survival. If they were not previously prepared in order to be able to survive in these dangerous conditions, they would die before being able to learn how to survive. This means that their evolutionary process was already programmed as well. The animals’ evolution doesn’t depend on the environment they find because everything in their formation is already programmed.

All animal reactions are previously prepared in their cognitive mechanism. Their reactions follow chains, which form various behavioral patterns. The cognitive mechanism of all animals is already prepared to help them automatically act in their environment, independently of a learning process. The same happens with us, human beings.

Darwin was correct for discovering that we are primates. Of course his work is valuable, and it enlightened us in many ways. However, many scientific discoveries that happened after his death, like Konrad Lorenz’s discoveries, proved that the evolution of all species was a result of a very well organized plan. As a matter of fact, the entire nature of our planet is very well organized. All this organization cannot be a product of chance.

Lorenz concluded that practically all our reactions are previously prepared in our cognitive mechanism. These reactions start automatically working whenever we receive a specific stimulus from our environment. The same truth is observed in all animals. Their reactions are previously prepared and well organized, so that each animal will follow a precise sequence of movements from the beginning to the end, depending on the stimuli of their environment. This sequence of movements and reactions forms a programmed behavioral chain, which creates a behavioral pattern.

For example, all wild animals know how to kill their prey, and they are able to beat their prey in their first attempts, even before seeing any other animal of the same species doing so. Even animals kept in isolation, far from other animals of their species, were able to do the right movements, in the right sequence, and successfully kill their preys in their first attempts.

This fact proves that everything in the animal nature is previously prepared to follow a determined sequence of movements. Lorenz and his group of biologists give us many more explanations about this matter. I’m only giving you an idea about their research and discoveries.

Lorenz concluded that since all our reactions are programmed and we act without thinking most of the time, we cannot talk about ‘human freedom’. The human being is an animal already programmed to behave in a certain way, the same way that all animals are. In other words, we don’t really ‘decide’ anything.

His conclusions were very unpleasant for those who prefer to consider the human being as a ‘superior creature’ who knows what he is doing. This is why until today Lorenz’s work is not taught everywhere. Cognitive therapy, where humans are shown to be able to think rather than just act on animal instincts has replaced behaviorism, even though Konrad’s discoveries were true. Many other scientific discoveries prove that Konrad’s statements were real because our capacity to think logically is too limited. However, these discoveries go against the interests of the world leaders, who would have to admit that human beings cannot be considered responsible for their actions in most circumstances.

There is a part of our brain that can learn, and we can control our behavior and make our own decisions. However, this part will work only if we won’t be automatically induced to behave according to the animal behavioral patterns that predetermine our behavior.

Konrad Lorenz helped me believe that the wise unconscious mind that produces our dreams and regulates the functioning of our body, really has a divine origin. I concluded that all the behavioral programs already prepared in our cognitive mechanism had to be prepared by a wise brain. The entire nature of our planet functions in a very well organized manner because it was organized by a superior brain. The same superior brain that created all behavioral programs (unconscious mind), sends us wise messages in dreams in order to save our mental stability.

I also noticed that the unconscious mind has saintly characteristics, which prove God’s existence. The unconscious words are like the words of a priest, or better saying, like the words of a wise philosopher. When we translate the meaning of dreams according to Jung’s method of dream interpretation we are able to understand the unconscious messages, which really have a divine origin. These messages cure our psyche with their wisdom.

I simplified Jung’s complicated method of dream interpretation, and today everyone can finally understand the precious unconscious guidance contained in the meaning of their dreams. Jung’s method is too complex and time consuming. I transformed it into a fast translation from images into words.

We are absurd and under-developed primates. We must develop our intelligence if we want to become superior creatures, and stop being pre-conditioned animals who merely follow their wild nature. In other words, we must surpass the behavioral programs we inherit in our cognitive mechanism.

The biggest part of our brain remains in a primitive condition because it belongs to the anti-conscience, our wild conscience, which didn’t evolve like our human conscience. This part refuses to evolve. It doesn’t accept changing its behavior or transforming its personality. It is our wild and evil conscience, which leads us to terror, craziness, and despair.

We have to learn many things, and transform our behavior through learning. We should not be accommodated animals who merely follow their behavioral patterns. We must acquire more knowledge and more consciousness, so that we may transform the anti-conscience into a positive component of our human conscience. This is how we’ll become true human beings instead of being wild animals. This is also how we’ll find sound mental health, peace, happiness, and real freedom.

The stated tenets of data security, confidentiality, integrity and availability purvey the titles of networking books. It is evident there has been a sudden awakening of the importance or lack thereof of data security. Operating systems, applications, networking and internetworking devices, are being examined for vulnerabilities. Threats and risks are no longer ignored. New specializations are being created. A few years ago anti-virus installation and updates was an added-on value.

Today it is a full time responsibility in the world of networking. Firewalls are being developed for the daunting cat and mouse game of malware detection and eradication. Viruses are presented with names that spell trouble; multipartite, polymorphic, phage, stealth; retro. Intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, and honeypots are fine tuned to provide a comfort zone for the networking professional. These devices can no longer be the one size fits all variety. IDSs are defined as network-based, host-based, signature-based, anomaly-based and the list goes on and on. Resources are being consumed more for protection than data exchange.

I am comfortable with the fact that there is this emphasis placed on data security but still concerned with the non-acceptance of the need for user training. I believe that no security device (read machine) can ever defeat the creativity and manipulative ingenuity of the human brain. Developers are still working on Artificial intelligence. We are born with it. The human’s ability to reason, question, debate, infer, deduct, pretend, deceive and mislead can never be curtailed by a box running an IOS and some man-designed algorithms. Encryption technologies are competing with human intelligence. We’ve gone from being comfortable with 56 bit encryption to 128,192, and 256. Ciphers are stream, block, substitution, transposition, symmetric, asymmetric, yet, with time, they are quickly becoming susceptible. The much touted WPA for WLANs felt that blow last week.

The common factor that seems to defeat the attempts to create the secure network environment is human behavior. Means, opportunity and motive is all that is needed. Of the three, opportunity prevails. Most people have the means, some people have motives. Because of the growth in internet access, more and more people have the opportunity. I remember a few thousand weeks ago very few employees needed internet access to perform their duties. Matter of fact, I can count the number of people who spoke about computers. Today it’s just understood. The world’s population is becoming more computer savvy each day. The computers’ processing power increases because of our ability to learn and improve. Way too much acclaim is given to the PC with little or no recognition of the human mind behind it’s growth. Viruses, worms, Trojan horses are all man-made. We are therefore in a battle with our own intelligence. It is therefore essential that we recognize that in order to create a safer networking environment we must begin by addressing or influencing human behavior. The one attack that will never be stopped is social engineering. Our goal as security personnel is to mitigate threats. Can we truly mitigate the threat of social engineering without addressing behavior? I say a resounding no.

Social engineering is an innate human quality or skill. We are exposed to it in our everyday lives. Any parent would agree that kids, especially teenagers are master social engineers. They frame questions knowing the result they want. They extract information with questions that seem to be casual chatter. My daughter has manipulated me into an action that was beneficial to her, ashamed to say, numerous times. The network attacker has that ability. He/she is not going to study UNIX or learn C++ to compromise your network. He/she looks for the most vulnerable or “low hanging fruit”. The most vulnerable entity on a network is the user, train and untrained. We can, however, create a more secure environment if we erase some human habits through training.

I remember visiting a doctor’s office and hearing the receptionist openly repeating confidential information on the phone. I’ve seen IP addresses stuck to the monitor in a New York bank. A friend of mine, a New York cabdriver told me that he can be a social engineer with the conversations he overhear in his cab. Recently I did a training class at one large client location, there were a number of PCs in the training room. I was given access to one PC. On that PC I had access to an open email account and read what I know was confidential emails of, get this, a manager. Employees and employers need to be trained as to the art of social engineering. The attacks are carried out through telephone, online, diving in dumpsters, and shoulder surfing. One attack that is almost always successful is the reverse social engineering attack. The employer needs to assure that the end-user is aware of the new trends. Helpdesks are a favorite target for the S.E. Most helpdesks are staffed with entry level IT professionals. Not a great amount of emphasis is placed on training because helpdesk positions are normally stepping stones. A helpdesk does just that, help! If they are not educated they will help. The attacker may be aware of the quick turnover at say ABC Corp. because he worked there before. Previously I spoke about the receptionist at the doctor’s office, they need to be trained not only on Word or Excel, but also on social engineering attacks.

Although we have moved positively in the direction of software and hardware testing and design, we are still behind in the most vulnerable area of the network, our staff. Employers need now more than ever to reinforce their security posture by demanding and supporting user awareness training. Policies can no longer be a static, four hundred page document that is only seen during the employment process. Policies must be current, always available and enforced. Employees must be educated as to the need for security, the effect of a compromise on their jobs, compliance issues and repercussions for non-compliance.

An untrained staff will defeat any security policy. Security training should be given as much or even more attention than procuring expensive equipment. Mobilization has increased the availabilty of network resources. Todays network creeps into the Starbucks, the airport, hotels and homes. Users are given access to more and more private information. Devices like laptops, PDAs, and phones store sensitive information that travels with the user. The attacker no longer has to gain physical access to the enterprise network. It it therefore imperative that the playing field be evened by having the user aware of the sensitivity of their work environment.

Prediction and Control of Human Behavior in Organizations

10:10 am by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

Respondent behavior is reflex behavior and is elicited by a prior stimulus. Respondent behavior occurs when the environment acts on the organism in a stimulus-response fashion. For example: a doctor must tap (the environment) below a person knee in order for the leg to jerk out (respondent behavior). Operant behaviors are emitted by the organism and must be learned. Operant behavior occurs when the organism acts on the environment to produce a consequence. The stimulus does not elicit a response but instead serves as a cue for the person to respond in a particular fashion. The classical conditioning experiments of Pavlov and Watson helped to explain reflex or respondent behavior.

The key to operant conditioning is what happens as a consequence of the behavior. If the behavior is followed by a positive or reinforcing consequence, the behavior will be strengthened and subsequently increase in frequency. If the behavior is followed by an unpleasant or noxious (punishing) consequence, the behavior will weaken and subsequently decrease in frequency. Thus, according to the theory of operant conditioning, the contingent environment takes on special significance. In this theory, antecedent cues and contingent consequences (both existing in the external environment) largely determine behavior.

Viewed from the external perspective of organizational behavior modification organizational behavior is a result of its contingent consequences. Human-resource management shifts away from managing people to managing the environment in which the people behave. This shift entails not only a new perspective but also a new way of man aging people. It does not have to deal with complex internal causes of behavior but nevertheless effectively accomplishes the goals of understanding and, especially, prediction and control of human behavior in organizations.

The three sequential steps in the model are outlined in the following paragraphs:

1. Identify. The first step: approach is to identify a performance-related behavior problem. This step deals only with observable, measurable behavior. Attitudes, desires, motives, and other inner states are not treated. Moreover, only behaviors related to performance are targeted for change. Many kinds of behavior occur in any work situation, some related to performance and some not. For example, complaining is often identified as a behavior problem, but it may have nothing to do with performance. Therefore, if the behavior has nothing to do with performance, it is not appropriate for organizational behavior model. Conversely, a performance problem due to mechanical failure, lack of knowledge, or lack of training or ability is unsuitable for this technique. Only performance problems that are traced to behavior are appropriate for Observation Models. Examples of such problems in an industrial setting would include productivity, quality, tardiness, absenteeism, and safety.

2. Measure. After the performance-related behavior problem has been identified, a baseline frequency must be obtained. A tailor-made tally is designed to measure how often the targeted behavior is occurring under current conditions. This tally, which permits objective measurement, is then transferred to a graph. The vertical axis represents frequency and the horizontal axis time. The resulting baseline is often quite revealing in and of itself. Sometimes the baseline indicates that the behavior is occurring much more frequently than expected and sometimes much less frequently.

Environment and Human Behavior

The current vision of the world on environmental issues enables a greater scope and detail about what happens to the environment where they are all living beings. Disasters, tragedies, plundering and exploitation of the natural assets have been increasingly explicit in the face of human society, causing environmental imbalances leading to fatigue and the nature. The purpose of sustainability is that human beings are considered part of nature, being able to develop their actions in balance with the environment in which they live.

Considering the evolutionary history of human thought, it is noted that the thinking of man are becoming throughout history, where it hangs a clash of the old Cartesian paradigm and the new paradigm, that of sustainability. Knowing the evolutionary process of human thought can be pointed as cause for the problem diagnosed: environmental problems not bother enough people so that they act, there is no motivation or personal initiative to trigger environmental action, awareness does not necessarily trigger changes of attitudes, not the accountability of people before the environmental issue.

The solutions to the problem of the programs and projects already working on environmental perception, awareness and consciousness, causing an emphasis on emotion in people that have been sensitized to promote the changes necessary to achieve sustainability.

Considering the parameters that influence the analysis and results of this work, it remains within its objectives, but to propose new ideas for influence in overcoming the processing of environmental awareness in active movement. Building new cultural values, social, political and economic then contributing to formation of a new global consciousness in favor of life and all the diversity in nature.

The actions committed for the environment today does not match that of people aware. We stopped on the concrete action to minimize the impacts that cause. Timid political movements and the majority are electioneering (Search by votes) try to convince people that we work with nature as a small part of the city’s trash is separated for recycling, and when changes are government projects past are overlooked or neglected, start another program as environmental be the first to worry about the environmental issue. The search for the reasons that make the conscious action of the generator attitudes and processes that can begin to mitigate the environmental problems is significant, considering the inconsistency of people aware of the existence and the lack of permanent environmental actions.

Working for a healthy environment, the effective action of a company organized and concerned to know, understand and exercise their responsibilities. Referring to the Medical Education, (KIKUCHI, 1991 p. 166) warns: You can not compare to the action self cure therapy with conventional medical therapy. The purpose of self cure therapy is to empower the healing of patients who must be an act essentially self-educational and not medical. The expropriation of health, holding to the doctors, the exclusive right to treatment for patients and difficult to author, using for that the law, follows, essentially, to ignorance and financial interests. This is one of the main factors that cause disease in troubled modern world. The disease is like a fire and the doctor is like the firefighter.

Although the total mobilization of the entire capacity of the doctor (firefighter) and the use of all equipment, there are still many serious diseases (large fires) that develop in parallel with the rapid development of science and mechanical technology of today. No use looking only technological progress and the practical with their firefighter equipment and instruments, if we strengthen and warned against the fire. We must protect us from disease flare of individual children as well as major fires (epidemics and wars). The disease appears as a possibility for growth, as a barrier that helps us to raise awareness that the imbalance is crucial for maintaining the relative balance. So what if search is not clear how the fire, because if you do not know, just study it and is the most effective method for this. What you want is the self facing the environment. The expropriation of nature is what is bad, compared to the previous reference Kikuchi health. Treat evil is not enough, we must prevent it and that is necessary to investigate what was lost and bring back the habit to return the balance to maintain, and also get the natural balance of ecosystems.

Looking under the same parameters of the search for balance you can cite other examples of the confusion in other segments such as: violent authorities want to stop the violence, doctors want to stop the cancer producing more cancer, educators want to promote education transmitting a fragmented vision and escravizante of reality. Clearly, something is wrong.

There is the need to replace the Cartesian-Newtonian paradigm, consolidated by the positivist doctrine, which still governs our lives. There should be a change in view of the world, considering that the greatest crisis affecting humanity is the crisis of perception, as a warning Capra (1996).

Education has strategic role in the process of environmental management, training of children and young people, incorporating environmental and human values, emphasizing the sense of daily practices with the theory initiated in the classroom, leading to a culture of sustainability, a culture the harmonic coexistence between human beings and between them and nature. The pursuit of sustainable development seems utopian, but the utopian ideas are to build something you dream, and dream is to generate hope. It is the desire to abstract a concrete reality, to stop rambling on firm ground to tread. Developing sustainability means being focused not only on production, is to think and solve small to condescend to the proposed logical natural process, or find the answers in nature to solve the problems. Issues that were created by humans, when we forget that the natural, the organic, and that depends on it. We must go back to origins to rethink the way of human life. Look what has been lost to fit the missing piece of to return to participate in the life cycle of the earth.

Sustainable development as its basic resource elect the creative initiative of individuals and as a fundamental objective the welfare of the material and spiritual. In communities that work well, even when there is poverty, there are also ingenious strategies for survival. (BARROS, 2002, p. 4) According Lerpio (2001, p. 2), the environment and development must cease to be confrontational to become a partnership relationship. The key point of the issue becomes the need for a peaceful coexistence between the quality of the environment and economic development.

What actions have been geared to protecting the environment is needed desvencilhar the mystery of consciousness and their ability to bring actions aware, committed and responsible for spreading solutions of problems and significant environmental improvements. You can not just plant trees in the gardens each year the week of the environment and to worship at that moment as if representing large effect on people and the environment. We must grow conscious attitudes in people, it is important to environmental awareness is no action to mitigate environmental impacts. The continuation of underdevelopment in environmental continuity is the act of playing the remains of food in the same brass in which recyclable materials or as forests are devastated areas equivalent to a big stadium every day, eliminating several endangered species of both flora as fauna, and authorities are not pressured to make this safeguard.

Understanding the basis of generating actions is very important to reach people aware so they can have their attitudes consistent with their way of thinking. Finding the factor for the actions has been a tool much more than just awareness. If awareness were large enough there would be concerns about the environmental issue, as is evident in the company to be established there, in various segments of multipliers of environmental awareness. Maybe the majority did not see the seriousness with which environmentalists have seen, hence the need for treatment of shock, or see the reality that hits on the emotionally and be done with nature and the like. Considering the importance of these aspects, this paper attempts to point out answers or solutions to the inertia of rest where people park conscious and not aware, to have the factor or factors instigators to a state of movement for activities beneficial to the environment, a inertia of movement of environmentally conscious heads.
